Family Reunion

Tamara came over to help with invitations and brought her kids and Jack-Polly's brother. They haven't seen each other since last October. Polly doesn't get to see other dogs (we haven't brought her to any dog parks yet), so we weren't sure how the encounter would go. She was apprehensive at first but then they couldn't stop playing with each other. It was fun to watch. They are 10 months. Jack is about 4-5 inches taller than Polly and is much more German Shepherd, where she is more Lab.

Polly after about 4 hours of playing with Jack-she is pooped. Cooling off on the cement.

Brewers Day 1

Just got back from the Brewers game. They lost, but it was a very close game. I left early in the afternoon and spent time with Jodi, Brian, Gracie and Josey. They came over to the house and then followed us downtown. We had cheap seats, but the nice part is you could sit any where and you didn't have to sit next to each other. You could have a seat inbetween-a little elbow room.Gracie was telling me stories the whole game.
We all had to have a Chicago-style Dome Dog!
Gracie got changed in the parking lot and loves raspberries on her tummy.

Vacation

End of the fiscal year at Lifetouch. I had 3 days of vacation that was either use it or lose it. So I had yesterday, today and tomorrow off. I thought I was going to be so productive. Get all these things done. Yesterday, Polly rolled in something (smelled like fish), so I gave her a bath. The rest of the day we (Polly and I) pretty much slept, watched tv, and once and a while went outside (bathroom breaks). I thought with all the rest I got, today I would be ready to tackle something. Every time Polly has wanted to go outside I have been pulling weeds from the rock areas until the mosquitoes get to be too much. I went to have lunch and Polly didn't want to come in, so I left her outside. When I went to check on her she was rolling on the ground...again. I went to check what she was rolling in, I didn't see anything, but somehow she had poop on her. Do I try and give her a bath again (first time was not enjoyable-hint, leave the collar on to hold her) or do I bring her to Petco and pay the $15 to use their facilities? I tried my own bathroom again. This time it wasn't as bad. She stayed still and I learned not to use as much soap. She comes out looking like a big poof ball. What will tomorrow have in store? Jodi comes into town and we have the Twins/Brewers game in the evening. It is going to be a busy weekend. More posts to come.

STOMP

Last night Jon and I went to STOMP at the Ordway. Jon's parents bought tickets, they went to the 5pm show and we went to the 9pm show. I have seen a performance before when I was in high school with drumline. Some of the acts looked the same (still excellent), but I don't remember there being so much comedy. It was really great. Unfortunately, there were no pictures allowed, cell phone or otherwise. The acts that I think are new or that I couldn't remember from last time: Newspaper, big steel drums that they walk on, lighters, and audience participation.

Benefit for Andy Theisen

This afternoon Jon and I went to a benefit for a friend from work. They had raffles, pizza, bowling and a silent auction. There were two pictures from a Lifetouch photographer that I really wanted. I placed the minimum bid and then for the next two hours me and this other guy were bouncing back and forth by $5. I didn't want one without the other. I finally got up to $75 on each. Then some random person put in a bid of $90 on one. At this point I was hoping to get out bid on the other-I did. I ended up walking away with a picnic basket for $20. Now that Polly is fixed (when she has recovered) we will have to take her to a park for a picnic.

If you would like to know more about Andy you can visit his website.

Recuperating

Polly made it through surgery. They said she would be tired and would mostly sleep the next two days. yea right. We are supposed to keep her from jumping, going up and down stairs and excessive running. We are talking about a puppy. Most of today she has been resting, but we live in a split level house-hard to avoid going up and down steps. We aren't playing catch with her which I'm sure is driving her crazy. She is currently laying down under the desk-sighing I think from boredom. Poor shaved Polly

Poor Polly

Poor Polly has to go to the vet Friday morning to get spayed. I have been thinking about this for days. Hoping I will be able to care for her after the surgery and what to expect. I also have been thinking about the fact that she will be staying at the hospital overnight. This means not having to take her outside 5 times for nothing and I can sleep in on Saturday! I'm comparing it to giving the kid to the grandparents for a night. Yea, I can see that happening a few times a month...

A Typical Day...Lately

I haven't written in a while and thought I would just give you a peek at what I have been doing lately. This is my cube. I spend 4-5 hours here and the other half I spend here, at the front desk.

Love the headset. I can walk all over the building and still answer the phone! Only problem is when guests or interviewees come in and I'm not at the front to greet them. It is the end of the school year and you would think things would be quieting down-NOT. Now we are two girls down, they were laid off for the summer, and some schools didn't get their pictures before school was out. Mostly it is because parents turned in orders after the cut off date and we thought we could still get them to the school in time-WRONG AGAIN. The last two days has been crazy. We have driven to schools delivering pictures. Yesterday a team met a UPS driver that had a package of pictures for a school because by the time they were delivered to our office it would be too late for the school, so we track down the driver and tell him we are going to meet at one of his stops take the package and head straight to the school. Would you call this dedication to our customers or insanity?

I love getting photos of all the babies in my life. They are displayed proudly on my desk-
KEEP 'EM COMIN'!
